The premises of International University of Sarajevo served as a venue for The First Balkan Conference on the topic “Change in the Balkans since the 1990s” held on 20th and 21st April. The conference was organized in cooperation with International Relations Studies Association (IRSA), Educational Center for Democracy and Human Rights (CIVITAS), Entrepreneurship Club of International University of Sarajevo (EPSC IUS) and Student Parliament IUS (SPIUS), reports Anadolu news agency. Mr. Amer Buvić, the CEO of Bosna Bank International (BBI), was one of the lecturers on the second day of the conference about the “Economic problems caused by the breakup of Yugoslavia and the future of Balkan economy with a focus on Bosnia and Herzegovina”. Mr. Bukvić addressed topics such as the beginning of the economic crisis in the United States, the economy of the former Yugoslavia and its difference from the economies of other socialist countries as well as about the economies of former Yugoslavia countries with a focus on Bosnia and Herzegovina. “If we were to talk about the optimum economic markets through the history, we could make the following comparison: if one wanted to be a businessman in the 18th century, they would go to France. Mr. Bukvić paid particular attention on the economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the former Yugoslavia, in the post war period and today, pointing out that B&H is a country of the “working class” but a country with the best geographic location in the region, as evidenced by Tito’s underground bunker near Konjic.
