Sarajevo on the world’s map of halal industry

After very successful realization of last year's Sarajevo Halal Fair (SHF) - the international halal industry fair, Bosna Bank International (BBI), Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB) and IsDB Group Business Forum THIQAH will for the second time, from 26th to 28th September 2019., organize this Fair in Sarajevo. Sarajevo Halal Fair will once again gather representatives of the halal industry from Southeast European countries, other countries in the world where this industry is developed, as well as multinational companies that are present in the global market with halal products and services.

The Sarajevo Canton Government is a partner of this year's Sarajevo Halal Fair (SHF) 2019, which will take place from 26th to 28th September at the Skenderija Center. "This is one of the few events that puts Sarajevo on the world’s map of the halal industry. There are no such events in the region, which provide an opportunity for our companies to be available at the world-growing halal - food market. We will continue to support this because it is an opportunity for all that we are fighting for, and that is economic growth and employment. The Canton Sarajevo government will be a partner of these events in the future”, said Canton’s Prime Minister Edin Forto at today's press conference.

BBI Bank CEO and chief organizer of the fair Amer Bukvić thanked Prime Minister Forto and the cantonal government for their support, pointing out that this is a good example of a public-private partnership. “SHF 2019, as a meeting place for all market participants - manufacturers, regulators, customers and consumers of halal - products and services, aims to encourage new companies to enter this dynamic industry by transparently presenting numerous new business opportunities to local and international companies. Our intention is to stimulate additional investments in our country and facilitate business cooperation in the area of ​​halal industry which is in large expansion”, said the CEO of Bosna Bank International (BBI), Amer Bukvić.

He also announced four subevents which will be organized during the Fair. “Transformers Roadshow” - business innovation competition, organized in cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and whose finals will be held on the third day of the SHF, and the best innovations will be rewarded. Also, SHF will organize a summit of Islamic banks from all around the world this year in mutual cooperation and market opening, as well as two roundtables with Saudi Arabian businessmen in food production, and with Malaysian businessmen led by the ministers of tourism and internal trade.

Amir Sakić, a representative of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Director of the Media Center of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, media sponsor of the Fair, said that halal product in the past period in Bosnia and Herzegovina and throughout the region “have taken an important place in public discourse, are widely accepted and that consumers individually recognize its benefits, and companies a business opportunity.”

According to the Director of the Agency for Halal Quality Certification in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Damir Alihodžić, since the establishment of this Agency in 2006 until today, this agency has certified 141 companies in the region in which it operates, of which 101 are in Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to the requirements of the halal standard.

Emir Pašić, Secretary of the Halal Industry Association at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, spoke to the media and announced the Halal Industry Info Day during the second day of the Fair.
